This comic was pretty meh, actually. All of the New Mutants friends get together and have a bar-b-que. Magma dumps Mephisto, and everybody bands together to battle some loser from Warlock's insanely annoying race. It ends with the team deciding to stick together(even though we know Sunspot is, for some utterly bizarre reason, becoming an Avenger, thus affirming that the Avengers will take ANYBODY). Nothing of any real interest happened. This was a pretty boring way for this series to end, but hey, at least it brought Nate Grey back from comic book limbo, so I'll always be appreciative of that. Score-wise I'd go 6 out of 10.

Totally agree. In retrospect, I think it's kind of weird that DnA decided to basically dedicated the last seven or so issues of this series on Doug, to the exclusion of almost everyone else. Like, it would've been nice to get some insight into how Nate felt actually having friends (as seen by him hanging with the boys around the BBQ) or how Dani fees about new mutants appearing but her still missing her powers. (Though, can she now just turn into a Valkyrie whenever she wants? She turns into a Valkyrie in this issue, but I don't think anyone's soul on the line, which is usually what causes her to transform.) I'm hoping we get to see at least Dani and Nate somewhere else. Fingers crossed!

Deep down I wish Dani and Nate would join the Avengers(everybody else in the Marvel U did), but with Dani's oddly undefined powers, that doesn't seem likely. Maybe she'll pop up on that female team Valkyrie is gonna be leading? That would work for me, and make sense. Or hopefully down the road we get a secondary X-title(like, oh, I don't know, New Mutants!) where characters like Dani, Nate and Blink can shine.
